this is the last post, i promise.

So we had our last show on November 25th and we still can’t thank everyone enough for such an amazing and unforgettable time. It was truly heartwarming having all of our friends and fans at the First Unitarian Church to celebrate our music as well as the music scene in general. Thanks again…but one more thing:

After spending the door money on paying the venue and paying all the bands that played, we found ourselves with a large sum of cash. However, it was our plan from the beginning to donate whatever door money was left to a charity. Well, after lots of research, we found that charity. The leftover $1500 is being donated to Johns Hopkins Hospital; specifically The Department of Patient and Family Services at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. I know, thats a big title. Our first thought was to donate the money to cancer research, but in reality, that money would almost mean nothing compared to the millions of dollars in grants that research gets every year. Our money will be much more effective at The Department of Patient and Family Services. This department helps patients and families who need financial support during recovery. There are a lot of people who can’t afford common comforts during their recovery after being discharged from treatment, and some can hardly afford all the traveling it requires to make their scheduled daily appointments. Insurance typically covers you while you’re staying at the hospital but you’re on your own once you get discharged. That means, when you have appointments everyday for an entire month all that gas, parking, etc etc is all on you. Needless to say, all the costs get expensive and thats where The Department of Patient and Family Services comes in. Not only do they help with financial problems, but they also help with mental health as well. Cancer recovery is just as much a mental challenge as it is a physical. The department helps with comprehensive cancer education for patients and families, cancer counseling (this is incredibly important in recovery), family support, assisting with transportation and parking, access to support groups and other care organizations, and much more.

I could go on and on and on but I’ll spare you too many details. Regardless, donating this money to this charity means everything to us. It seriously wouldn’t be possible without all of you guys and girls out there that came to the show to support us and our friends. Thanks again.
